open-mic hosted by Tony Brown

"In Every Dream Pub A Heartache"

Extraordinary performance from Luke Paulo tonight. I thought he really brought the songs (the first two especially) to the audience. I've mentioned Luke's apparent improved confidence before but this was way beyond any performances I've seen him do.

Likewise Richard Mitchell, who did a great set of standards on the piano. I know Richard a liitle from Bohemian Nights at Deja Vu and indeed he is doing a showcase this forthcoming Friday. If you can attend I don't think you will be disappointed.

As for me, well I think perhaps there was something in the beer because I was pleased with my performance too. Indeed I even got a little choked on Silent Valley which was a first. One of my ambitions has been to be able to "feel" the songs in front of an audience and I think that happened tonight.

I guess it really has been long overdue for me to do a Bryan Ferry song. In Every Dream Home is not necessarily a favourite but the subject matter lends itself to a bit of humour and banter with the audience.

My Set:

Cold Heart

Tears of a Clown (Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Hank Cosby)

Silent Valley

In Every Dream Home A Heartache (Bryan Ferry)

Don't forget I have a showcase at Deja Vu (RG1 2LG) on 13th April. The latest details can be found here.

And also don't forget the screening of Finding Joe hosted by Stand-Up Cinema at Reading's The Rising Sun Arts Centre on May 18th at 6:30pm. The start time is early so that the film will end by 8:00pm and not conflict with Bohemian Night Showcase. If you're an artist, writer, musician , or just someone wanting to break out and go their own way, or even actually dare I say, a Star Wars fan, then I think you might find the film interesting and indeed I hope encouraging. (Throughout this site there are references to the film, I hope to bring them all together in the very near future.)
