open-mic hosted by Chris Padmore

"Two Strangers in This Town"

Following on from the last post's theme of just being able to play without preparation (or anxiety) I took a last minute decision to join Luke Paulo on his excursion to Oxford last night. No disrespect to our other open-mic hosts but I don't think I have been made to feel as welcome as I was last night by Chris Padmore. The evening was packed-out with acts so he wasn't desperate for more people to be there but as soon as he saw these "two strangers in this town" he made the effort to come over and introduce himself and explain the situation with regards to the evening. In fact I found the whole atmosphere of the pub very warm, welcoming and attentive and I think Luke and I acquitted ourselves well. It's a bit far to travel on a regular basis but I'd certainly like to return at some point.
