Bohemian Night open-mic hosted by Rob Sowden

"A Sofa of Hecklers"

I don't know what the collective noun for hecklers is but since I had a sofa full of them on Wednesday night, let's go with that. The problem with getting a better guitar is that it shows up the inadequacies of my guitar playing that had perhaps hitherto been camouflaged by the poor old Shearernator. This resulted on Wednesday night in all sorts of advice being thrown at me whilst I was on stage. I'm all fingers and thumbs at the best of times so the tsunami of advice telling me what to do with my fingers coming my way just fell on deaf ears (which by all accounts must be what I've got.) I have to say, however well-intentioned the advice was, it was a little irksome and I felt could've waited until I'd come off stage. As it happens I think I took it all with good humour and on balance perhaps learning how to deal with a bit of ritual humiliation on stage is probably a good thing (though I don't usually require any external assistance.) Anyway, what goes around, comes around.

Other highlights (sic) of the night were Luke Paulo playing two of his older songs Clearwater and Hey Annie. And of course Helen Cuthbertson Reid who played some more songs of hers which I hadn't heard before.
